operations; they will be moved to the Recycling Storage Area for delivery to local
recycling markets by Solid Waste Division drivers or to be picked up by off-site
delivery trucks.
The Solid Waste Division plans to use drivers to perform both moving of recyclables
on-site and for selected off-site deliveries.
The Recycling Drop-off Area will be constructed as an open area paved with asphalt
concrete. The Solid Waste Division will perform layout design of this area as needed
in the future.
Following is a general list of procedures for sorting, storage and salvage.
Tipping Sorting Floor:
• Loader segregates loads with high recyclable content
• Laborers (primarily AWP) hand sort recyclables from waste and stack for
removal by loader operator or placement directly into bins
• Loader operator pushes stacks of recyclables in appropriate roll off box
• As previously discussed, tires will be segregated and hand loaded at the
loading dock to a trailer for off-site delivery.
Recycling Storage Area:
• When box is full, Solid Waste Division driver loads box and moves it to
staging area for off-site removal, or directly delivers box off-site
• The stall at the "Z"wall is replaced with an empty box
• Boxes in storage area are delivered off-site and returned empty
• This area will be used as the main storage area for empty roll off boxes
• Drivers weigh out and also in, if box is not tared in computer
In-door Recycling DM-off Area:
The County will use a limited area in the Transfer Building for placement of bins or
containers such that Non-Automated disposal site users can deposit separated
recyclable materials in the containers. When the containers are full they will be
transported off-site for disposal.
Future Recycling Drop-off Area:
Following is a general description of future activities which may potentially be
undertaken by the County in the future. These include some conceptual procedures
which will be developed in the future if the programs are undertaken by the County.
•
Non-Automated Disposal users would be directed to recycling drop off or
redemption center
• Traffic director in drop-off area would direct and log unloading
07549001.012 35 September 23,1993
