scale, 70 feet long.
7. Office and Maintenance Building
The Office and Maintenance Building will be of steel frame construction with
metal siding and a reinforced concrete foundation. The building will include a
lunchroom, locker rooms, and restrooms. The office area will be air conditioned
and the maintenance area will be provided with radiant heaters. Roll-up doors
will be provided at all service bays.
The Maintenance Building will provide service and minor repair for the transfer
trucks and the equipment operating at the station.
8. Employee/Visitor Parking
Parking for employees and visitors is located west of the Office/Maintenance
Building and can be accessed from both the entrance and the east exit roads.
9. Transfer Trailer Parking
The transfer trailers will use this area for overnight parking only and not as a
staging area.
10. Fuel Station
Fueling will take place at the Fuel Station shown west of the Transfer Building,
along the west exit road. The Fuel Station will provide diesel fuel and gasoline
to the County-owned vehicles and equipment operating at the station.
11. Roadways
All roadways will be striped and signed to facilitate traffic movement and traffic
safety. The traffic lanes have been designated to emphasize vehicle segregation
and to completely separate the general public from the transfer trailers and
commercial vehicles.
Pavement sections throughout the station will be suitable for heavy vehicles. As
shown on Figure 3-3: Preliminary Grading Plan, maximum ramp slopes are 8%
and the minimum turning radius for "transfer" lanes is 75 feet.
12. Drainage
There are no off-site drainage facilities. The on-site drainage system will consist
of a network of catch basins and pipes draining into an unlined retention pond,
as shown on Figure 3-4: Preliminary Utility an. The retention pond will be
located west of the Recycling Area and will collect and retain site storm drainage
for percolation and evaporation. The pond has been designed to retain storm
water for two 100-year storms.
The Transfer Tunnel and the Recycling Area will each be provided with a sump
and pump connected to the gravity on-site drainage system. Portable pumps
will be available to provide proper drainage in the event of a power failure.
3-6
1 s
