The purpose of these BMPs <br />load checking is to exclude materials that may not be accepted at the facility eensi er-ed hazardous <br />^r whit' are to be exel de a for other reasons. Site personnel are trained in the recognition, proper <br />handling and disposition of prohibited waste materials. Load checking records for the previous <br />year are maintained for future reference at the LATS main administration office. <br />3.3.1 Scale House Check <br />Verbal-sus--tThe screening of incoming loads for hazardous and prohibited wastes begins at <br />the scale house. Signs indicating what types of waste are prohibited are posted on the scale house. <br />Customers are asked if they have any hazardous or prohibited waste within their load. <br />3.3.2 Routine Load Checks <br />Routine Load Cheeks The County has-adepted-a visually inspections prografn o commercial and <br />self haul customers u „t^^a�N^^ ra4io s i <br />-ad-d *^„ to , ,.a^m'^-Aa ciee� ing and randomly <br />checks commercial loads to prevent the unloading of any unacceptable materials ' <br />hazardous . ^s*® If hazardous materials are deteeted in a lead unacceptable materials are detected, <br />site staff will notify the customer driver that the load contains hazardous unacceptable materials <br />that are not aeeepted a4 the station and that this material may not be unloaded. The customer is <br />given directions to a facility that can accept the materials in question. This procedure is an in-depth search of <br />the contents of randomly selected commercial haul vehicles to prevent the unloading of any <br />unacceptable materials including hazardous waste.
