WASM QUANT[TY PROJECTIONS
TRACY MATERLAILS RECOVERY & TRANSFER FACHITY
This section presents an analysis of waste generation data for the Tracy Planning Area providing
waste projections through a 22 year planning period to the year 2015. The Tracy Planning Area
(TPA), as defined by the San Joaquin County Planning Department, consists of the City of Tracy
and unincorporated County census tracts 52.02, 52.03, and 55, which approximately encompass
the South County Collection Region. See Figure B-1 for the County collection regions and
disposal sites and Figure B-2 for City of Tracy and County census tracts.
The purpose of this analysis is to estimate the quantity and composition of solid waste and define
waste handling requirements for the design of the MRF serving the TPA.
Information utilized to develop waste quantity projections was the City of Tracy and San Joaquin
County Source Reduction and Recycling Elements (SRRE's), 1990 census data, and discussions
with City and County public works departments and planning agencies. The following is a brief
summary of waste management practices and population growth estimates which are key to the
projection of waste quantities for the region.
Regional ftWafion QEQyAh
Population and growth estimates for the TPA were based on 1990 census data and discussions
with staff of San Joaquin County Council of Governments (COG) regarding future community
developments and anticipated population growth for the City of Tracy and adjacent
unincorporated areas through the year 2010. The COG population estimates were projected to
the year 2015 at the same growth rate to coincide with the 22 year planning period. COG
population growth estimates for incorporated and unincorporated tracts of the TPA are presented
in Table B-1.
L:\PR0JECr\3"RF\RS61.TCy EBA WASrECHNOLOGIES
DRAFr B-1 Dm=b,-r 14,1993
