Load Checking Program Tracy Material Recovery&Transfer Facility 30703 S. MacArthur Drive,Tracy, CA 95377 • Understand their responsibilities for preventing the transfer of PW to the receiving landfill; • Understand their responsibilities for maintaining an active load check program; • Understand their responsibilities for employee health and safety as it relates to load checking and hazardous waste and UW handling and management. 4.4. Training Recordkeeping Training records required for this Program are maintained at the office of the Operations Manager and are available for review upon request. 5. Load Check Program Equipment The facility will maintain a supply of the following equipment to be used by personnel performing load checks: • Safety boots • Hard hat • High visibility vest • Chemical gloves • Eye protection (safety glasses or goggles) • Liquid-repellent aprons or coveralls • Two way radio • Traffic cones or delineators • Plastic sheeting • Three prong rake • Hand tongs In addition to the safety equipment, the following items are stored nearby for the load checking staff to use as necessary: • Spill response kits • Fire extinguishers • Emergency eye washes and shower unit • Emergency phone numbers for reporting chemical emergencies • Agency phone numbers for reporting significant spills 6. Load Checking Procedures Performing load checks with uniform procedures improves the safety for load check staff. Performing load checks the same way each time helps facility equipment operators and customers anticipate what action the load check staff will do during each inspection. The uniform use of designated load check areas, delineators and hand and voice signals helps to ensure the safety of both the load check staff and customers. The following describes the three permitted uniform load checks approved at the Facility. 9
