MacArthur Drive, Tracy, California 95377
18221.6(8) facility design capacity including the assumptions, methods, and
calculations performed to determine the total capacity
Design Calculations
The assumptions, methods, and calculations for each specific operation are
provided below.
Transfer Station:
Transfer Station Capacity — Design 3,072 TPD
The Transfer Station is housed in a portion of the enclosed building of 47,200
square feet. There are two waste openings above the load -out bays adjacent to
the MSW Tipping Area on the floor of the Transfer Station. Transfer trailers below
grade will be top loaded with MSW by a wheeled loader pushing MSW through the
waste opening. A transfer vehicle holding 24 tons of municipal solid waste can be
loaded in less than 15 minutes. With two transfer trailers being loaded, with an
operational average of 8 trucks per hours, 3,072 tons of MSW can be loaded out in
a 16 -hour day.
The indoor operations would include adding a food waste processing line to
remove contaminants from commercial and institutional food waste loads, and
process the food waste into organic feedstock for composting facilities or
anaerobic digestion facilities. Food processing lines can manage 20 tons per hour,
and with up to 12 hours of processing per day, up to 240 TPD of feedstock would
be produced with a 90% recovery rate. However, only 120 TPD is anticipated to be
processed.
Material Recovery Facility:
The Material Sort Facility is housed in another portion of the enclosed building.
There is one pick line primarily for residential recyclables, but is used for
commercial recyclables as well.
Belt Capacity — Design 480 TPD
The sorting system can handle a maximum of 20 tons per hour over the sorting
belt. Operating at full capacity over a 24-hour day up to 480 tons of recyclables
may be processed on the sort line.
Baling Operation — Design 480 TPD
The baler is capable of baling 20 tons per hour. Baling can occur 24 hours per day
with a design capacity of 480 tons per day.
19
