i
breeding in the area. I left Briggs road and traveled down Manila Road. The odors were
non existent.
I then traveled to the facility. The secondary pond, the area where the grit and manure
sludge was placed to dry was dry. I checked the primary ponds edge where I had
previously noted fly breeding. I did not see any fly breeding. The adult flies in the area
were Iight. I stopped and looked at the flush system that is exposed due to the demolition
of House 9. The area is subject to backing up and over flow. There were egg shells and
grit. I suspect that the area is contributing to the fly population of the facility.
I inspected the area south of the primary pond. The sludge and grit that was placed there
was dry. I spoke with John Den dulk, site manager, I indicated to him that there was
some clean up needed in the flush system between houses 9 and 10. He seemed to know
the area and said he would look in to it. I asked Mr. Den dulk if Mr. Olivera was having
the pond treated with the spray to reduce the surface mat and the odors from the pond.
Mr. Den dulk stated that the pond was treated twice, but that was the extent of the
treatment. I recommended that he have Mr. Olivera to continue to spray the pond through
the summer months.
i
