This has changed the way Pleasant Valley Farms now sources
it 900,000 birds worth of eggs. Because of Prop 2 that requires more space for Chickens, FDA
requirements for food safety and the state passage of food safety reg. to protect the California
citizen. All of this has increased the amount of barn square feet and labor to house Chickens in
Ca, witch has forced almost all of Pleasant Valley Farms egg producers to go out of business
located in Northern Ca,. This is the reason we are asking for the increase of birds to the Carter
rd location so that we be able to comply with all state a federal regs.and maintain our egg
production numbers to stay efficient and to keep supplying are customers.
The farm located on the south east corner of Carter road and Henry road. has been producing
egg senesce the 1960s. there is 223,000 sq. feet of poultry barns, 33,000 sq. feet of Egg
processing building and 5,000 sq. feet of office a shop, three residence, 11,000 sq. foot
compost barn and three sheds. Also located on the farm is 25 acres of Walnuts 7 acre drying
pad for manure, 4 acre drying pad with water retention area to hold rain water run off from
manure and water retention ponds used for both egg wash water from processing plant rain run
off. there is a 10 acre open area at his time on the north east side of the property to either be
planted in trees or for future operation for the Poultry operation.
