We simply oun more dogs than the allowed 3 per household. The
dogs we own are pets and we do not want, to be forced to sell our home or to
have to be faced with the possibility of loosing any of our beloved pets.
We own several A.K.C. registered Labrador Retrievers. We like to hunt
and train our dogs for that sport. I also enjoy showing my dogs a A.K.C.
Conformation dog shows. Our dogs are a source of great joy and are a part
of our family.
When we moved out to this location and built our home on approximately
10.9 acers, we did not believe our dogs would create a problem for anyone.
We thought with 2,000 cows around us (at least 4 or more dairies within 2
miles) and acers of rice fields around us this would be a great location to
raise our children and have our dogs. We did not realize we would have to
have a Kennel permit, as our dogs are not a business.
Dogs which do not belong to us do not stay on our property. We do not
run, or intend to run, a boarding or grooming kennel. , We do not take in
other peoples dogs for training. We rarely breed a dog and when we do it is
to keep a puppy for ourselves. Believe me, this is NOT done to make money.
Our dogs cost much more than one litter of puppies can offset every two or
three years.
Kennel cages are in place as we have too many dogs to run them all to-
gether loose in our yard, for safety reasons. Our dogs do not bark excessively.
We have bark control collars and they are used if necessary. Our dogs do not
bark at night. The local coyote population makes more noise at night than
any of the dogs in the area. We try to be good neighbors and do not intend
to bother our neighbors with nusience dog barking.
The dogs which are kept in kennels are let out several times daily.
It is rare for one of our dogs of deficate or urinate kiy. their kennels. .
However, if they do, it is picked up immediately and the kennel is mopped with
a disinfectant. Feces are bagged and put into a covered container. The
yard is also picked-up daily of all dog feces and that is also bagged and
put into a covered container. All animal waste solids and trash is kepted
in covered cans in an enclosed area. These items are hauled off regularly,
to an approved landfill. The mop water is dumped into an RV dump which drains
into our existing septic system. ., No more than 15 gallons of mop water is used
daily. All disinfectants used are environmentally safe and diodegradable.
