r
(cont. pg. 211
4
All dog food is kept in covered containers to keep rodents out of the food
and to help to keep from attracting rodents.
We were told we would probably have to take out another encroachment
permit and improve our driveway by paving it back to the property line. I
feel I must at least address this issue with a protest. Our home is relatively
new, built within the last five years. At the time we built our home we
paid for an encroachment permit and put in our driveway according to the
county requirements. An inspector from San Joaquin County, your employee,
came out and approved the work done. Attached is a copy of the encroachment
permit we paid for at the time we put in our driveway. Please note the high-
lighted area which states that a road base driveway was acceptable. I feel if
we are not adding anything, for example a new building or a new driveway
entrance, that we should not have to re-pay another encroachment permit fee
on an existing, approved.. driveway entrance.
Also I do not feel we should have to pay a Traffic Impact Fee. It is
not justified as we are not, nor will we be opperating a business. No traffic
has been, or will be added to our street. The dogs on our premises are our
pets and belong to us. We are applying for a kennel as we want to be legal
with the county, not to run a business.
In conclusion, basically we just want to enjoy our dogs and be legal.
If we are not allowed a kennel permit we would be faced with having to sell
our property or distroy many of our older dogs and to find homes for some
of our younger ones. We are not bothering any of our neighbors or running
a business. We would appreciate fair consideration as citizens and taxpayers
in this county.
Sincerel ,
Jim Dunlavy
Pat Dunlavy
April 28, 1999
