r fl
FES 2 6 203
iiEIf Confined Animal Facility
Manure/Solid Waste Management Plan
General Information:
1. Describe the type of operations conducted at this facility.
a. Boarding and daycare for dogs. During the day the dogs will be out on the play yard.
During nap time the dogs will be in their designated kennels for boarding dogs and
crates for daycare dogs.At night the boarding dogs will be closed into the indoor section
of the kennels.
2. Describe the frequency, duration, and time of year the facility will be in operation.
a. Year-round,7 days a week.Operation hours are dependent on supply and demand.At
this time we are planning for 7 AM to 7 PM Monday through Friday. For Saturday and
Sunday 2-5 PM.
3. Provide a general description of the facility, and a site map of the parcels (s), showing the
location of existing and proposed structures associated with the operation (such as barns, stalls,
corrals, pens, feed storage areas, ponds, lagoons, drainage canals, and manure use or disposal
field),as well as any residences, septic systems, and wells.
a. See attached site map
b. At this time there are no existing structures. The only existing objects are the well and
Electrical Panel, located in the box next to parking lot on site map.
c. The facility will start as an indoor/outdoor 12 dog run building with a kitchen and crate
room attached. The dog food will be stored in closed containers in the kitchen area, In
future development we plan to add additional kennels,an office, and grooming room.
4. Describe the prevailing wind direction at the site.
a. The prevailing wind direction at the site is usually NE.
Manure Management:
1. Provide the maximum number of animals proposed in the facility design.
a. The maximum number of boarding dogs would be 24(if each family had two dogs they
wanted kenneled together). The maximum number of daycare dogs would be 16. For
future development(20 year plan)we are planning for 100 dogs.
2. Describe how manure from the confined animal operations will be managed, including the
estimated amount that will be generated daily and the moisture content of the manure (liquid
or dry).
a. The feces will be scooped off the yard throughout the day,and stored in lidded buckets
(metal can lined with leaf garbage bags). The buckets will be emptied weekly and
disposed of properly.
b. The average size dog is 40 pounds, depositing an average of 0.75 pounds of feces per
day. If we have 40 dogs per day for boarding and daycare, that would lead to 30 pounds
of feces per day,or 210 pounds of feces per week. The feces will be mostly solid stool,
