Windrows typically form a light crust on the outside, which repels rainfall. The site's
drainage control system was designed to handle all runoff from a 25-year 24-hour storm,
including runoff from the compost piles. This system is illustrated in Exhibit 3 and design
calculations are attached in Appendix 4.
a. Leachate Barriers
If leachate barriers are proposed, describe their length, width, depth, and
design characteristics.
There are no leachate barriers currently proposed for the site.
b. Leachate Barrier Locations
Show the locations of leachate barriers on the plot plan. Indicate whether
leachate barriers are in place or to be installed.
There are no leachate barriers currently proposed for the site.
c. Monitoring and Sampling Procedures
Describe monitoring and sampling procedures.
There are no leachate monitoring and sampling procedures proposed for the facility. Run-
off will be collected in a retention pond located in the southwest comer of the site. Runoff
will be sampled and monitored to meet pretreatment requirements or the site's Stormwater
Pollution Prevention Plan and Stormwater Monitoring Plan depending on final disposal of
collected water.
d. Leachate Volume
Estimate the volume of leachate to be handled and the manner of removal from
the control barrier system (periodic pumping, etc.).
As discussed previously, significant leachate generation is not anticipated.
e. Treatment, g Discharge
Storage and e

Indicate the manner of treatment, storage and point of discharge of treated
leachate.
Water collected in the retention ponds will either be evaporated, used during .the initial
mixing of the compost, used for dust control, discharged to the South Fork, pumped to the
on-site leachate evaporation pond, or transported to a municipal treatment works depending
w&10029W4.wp5/34
9ns/9a 34
