3.3 DEPLOYMENT <br /> A. Follow manufacturer's recommendations, standards, and guidelines. <br /> B. Roll geotextile down slope keeping the geotextile sheet in sufficient tension to <br /> prevent folds and wrinkles. <br /> C. Weight geotextile with sandbags,or equivalent,to ballast during deployment. Leave <br /> ballast in place until geotextile is covered with succeeding construction layer. <br /> D. Cut geotextile using approved cutter only. Take care to protect other in-place <br /> geosynthetic materials when cutting geotextile. <br /> E. Do not trap excessive dust, stones, or moisture in geotextile that could damage or <br /> clog drains or filters,or hamper subsequent seaming. <br /> F. Examine geotextile over entire completed surface to ensure that no potentially <br /> harmful foreign objects, such as needles, are present. Remove any foreign objects. <br /> 3.4 SEAMS AND OVERLAPS <br /> A. Seams for the cushion geotextile shall be overlapped a minimum of 3-inches and <br /> sewn. All sewn seams shall be"single prayer"or"single J" seam using a 401 two- <br /> thread chain stitch,or equivalent. A polymeric thread having chemical resistance and <br /> strength properties equal to or exceeding those of the geotextile shall be used. <br /> B. Ensure that no soil materials are inadvertently inserted beneath the seams or overlaps <br /> of the geotextiles. <br /> 3.5 REPAIRS <br /> A. Repair holes or tears in geotextiles with a patch from the same geotextile material <br /> with a minimum seam overlap of 2-ft in all directions. If tear exceeds 50 percent of <br /> the roll width,remove and replace the roll. No patches will be allowed within I inch <br /> of a panel edge. <br /> B. Remove any soil or other material that may have penetrated the torn geotextile. <br /> C. Notify QA/QC CONSULTANT of all repairs. <br /> 3.6 FIELD QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. The QA/QC CONSULTANT shall enforce all requirements associated with the <br /> nonwoven geotextile and comply with the Construction Quality Assurance Manual. <br /> B. The QA/QC CONSULTANT will observe all repair operations. <br /> 3.7 ACCEPTANCE <br /> A. The CONTRACTOR retains all responsibility for geotextile installation until <br /> Forward Compost Facility Stormwater Improvements <br /> 02771 5 GEOTEXTILES <br />
