SAMPLING REPORT
Friday, October 10, 1997
2355 W. Robberson Road
By: Doug Wilson, Supervising REHS
Steve Mindt, Senior REHS
Linda Turkatte, Senior REHS
Samples were taken after surveying area and trying to make contact with Mr. Ted Witt.
One of the workers stated that he might be out in the back by the cattle rows. We drove
into the cattle feeding area and found the road covered throughout this area with brake
pads. On the southeast corner I located 3 large piles of brake pads. Some of the pads
were deteriorated due to breakage and it appeared there were fibrous materials protruding
from them. We continued to the barn area where the original pads were located. Two (2)
dead cows were lying in the pile. We continued back to the entrance and found some of
the workers and asked if they knew where Mr. Witt was. One of the workers went to a
house and returned with a radio and indicated we could contact Mr. Witt over the radio. I
contacted Mr. Witt and explained that I had returned and wanted to take some samples.
Mr. Witt indicated that he was 10 to 15 minutes away and to ho ahead and he would meet
me there. I went to the NE corner of the cattle pens and took two (2) samples W 1 A and
WIB. Photos were taken of the samples after labeling and evidence taping them. I
continued to the area around the barn and took two (2)more samples W2A and W213.
Each sample was double bagged and sealed with evidence tape. Mr. Witt appeared in the
area during the sampling event. Upon photographing and filling out the chain of custody,
I made contact with Mr. Witt. I offered Mr. Witt the `B" samples and he refused. Mr.
Witt stated that he wanted any reports from the sampling. I assured Mr. Witt that I would
make sure he was given a copy of any sample results that we would get. Samples were
then transported under a chain of custody.
