Because of the nature of the
comments, the Board has canceled the public hearing for the WDRs and Initial Study/Negative
Declaration(CEQA)project which was noticed for 21 June 1996. DFG has informed me that I
should anticipate receiving comments on the Initial Study/Negative Declaration from the U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service regarding similar issues.
Significant resources of the project include habitat for the Federal and State-listed sensitive species.
The attached letter from the Department of Fish and Game, dated 7 May 1996, specifies the
sensitive species and the type of reports required to satisfy statutes and the Federal Endangered
Species Act.
Please copy your response to DFG's requests to the Board so we may be aware of the timing
involved. We will revise the Initial Study/Negative Declaration and WDRs as soon as DFG and
other commenters have been satisfied.
If you have any questions please call me at(916)255-3127.
A.
