s • <br />• 22 June 2001 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 01-0839 <br /> Page 4 of 7 <br /> • Ground water sample collection and analysis, <br /> • Report preparation <br /> 3 1 PRE-FIELD WORK PREPARATIONS <br /> A health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health <br /> Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety <br /> and Health Administration, U S Coast Guard and U S Environmental Protection Agency, 1985) <br /> Prior to mobilization, the area to advance soil borings will be clearly marked and a utility clearance <br /> obtained through Underground Service Alert <br /> 32 SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS <br /> Initially,AGE proposes to advance four soil borings in the vicinity of the former USTs and dispenser <br /> islands to assess the lateral and vertical extent of the petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil and/or <br /> ground water Proposed boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2 and are as follows <br /> • Boring 1 (B-1)will be located on the east side of the former UST pit <br /> • Boring 2 (B-2) will be located on the west side of the former UST pit <br /> • Boring 3 (B-3) will be located south of the eastern fuel dispenser <br /> • Boring 4 (B-4) will be located south of the western fuel dispenser <br /> The proposed soil boring locations may be modified due to field observations or additional borings <br /> may be advanced with approval by the PHS-EHD The proposed soil boring located on the west side <br /> of the former UST pit will be advancedo 0 fed e g he historical low for ground water eve el in <br /> the area The remaining bonngs will be advanced to feet bsg or until the field observations (odor <br /> and staining), and field screening using an organic vapor meter (OVM) indicate that petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon vapor is not present in the soil samples screened from two consecutive five-foot <br /> intervals <br /> Soil samples will be collected every five feet beginning at 5 feet bsg extending to the total boring <br /> depths Field procedures for advancement of borings and collection of soil samples are presented in <br /> Section 4 1 <br /> r <br /> ✓ Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
