' BlaSS Environmental Management Inc 1 St Qtr 2005 Groundwater Mom toting Report
002-70950-04
U-Haul11709-50
transported, under proper chain-of-custody protocol, to Sequoia Analytical of Sacramento, California for
' analysis
' 3 2 2 Groundwater Sample Analysis—March 2005
The groundwater samples collected during the first quarter 2005 groundwater monitoring event were
' analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd) and Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as
gasoline (TPHg), using U S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8015B The samples were
' also analyzed for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
total xylenes (BTEX), methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), tert-butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),
' ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE), and tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME), I,l-Dichloroethane (1,1 DCA), 1,2-
Dichloroethane (1,2 DCA), and 1,2 Dibromoethane(EDB) according to EPA Method 8260
33 GROUNDWATER ANALYTICAL RESULTS—MARCH 2005
' Laboratory analytical results for the first quarter 2005 groundwater sampling event, which included two
sample groups (middle and lower casing samples), revealed substantial variation between the two groups
• The petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in the groundwater samples collected from the "B" casing
wells were generally higher for the first quarter 2005 groundwater sampling event than in the fourth
quarter of 2004 Blaes Environmental has observed similar patterns in previous years The rise in VOC
' levels is attributed to the season fluctuation of groundwater elevation as theoundwater interface moves
es
across the smear zone A summary of the analytical results for the March 2005 sampling event is
presented in Table 3 A copy of the corresponding laboratory analytical report and chain-of-custody
documentation is provided in Appendix C
Analytical results of groundwater samples collected from the well casings screened across the
' groundwater interface (middle "B" casings) revealed two co-mingled plumes of dissolved phase
hydrocarbons beneath the U-Haul site and the Former Harry's Auto Mart Facility The highest
' concentrations of hydrocarbons in groundwater at the U-Haul site are from wells MW-2B and MW-3B,
and the highest concentrations at the Former Harry's Auto Mart are from HA MW-1 Concentration
' contours and the approximate extent of Benzene and 1,2-DCA for the "B" horizon are presented in
Figures 4 and 5,respectively Analytical results are summarized in Table 3
7
