I
Blau Environmental Management Inc I st Qtr 2005 Groundwater Monitoring Report
002-70950-04
U-Haul#709-50
Analytical results of groundwater samples collected from the lower "C" casing wells, screened between
approximately 60 and 100 feet bgs, revealed the highest concentration of hydrocarbons to be located
around wells MW-2C, MW-4C, and MW-6C Concentrations of Benzene and 1,2 DCA were below
laboratory reporting limits in U-Haul's groundwater samples from monitor wells MW-11C and MW-12C
' Concentration contours and the approximate extent of Benzene and 1,2-DCA for the "C" horizon are
presented in Figures 6 and 7,respectively Analytical results are summarized to Table 3
' The laboratory analysis of fuel additives MTBE, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, TAME 1,1-DCA, 1,2-DCA, and
EDB yielded concentrations above laboratory reporting limits in samples from wells MW-1B, MC-1C,
MW-2B, MW-2C, MW-313, MW-3C, MW-4B, MW-4C, MW-513, MW-5C, MW-6B, MW-6C, MW-8B,
' MW-8C, MW-9B, MW-1013, and MW-IOC Refer to the analytical report included in Appendix C for
details
Based on the first quarter 2005 analytical results, there appears to be limited communication between the
"B" and "C" horizons The LNAPL such as TPH and BTEX, appears to be concentrated in the "B"
horizon while the heavier DNAPL such as 1,2 DCA, has penetrated more extensively into the "C"
horizon
3 4 PURGE WATER TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL
' Groundwater purged during the first quarter of 2005 at the site was stored in a 1,000-gallon polyethylene
tank located on the west side of the U-Haul building Purged groundwater generated during the second
quarter of 2005 will be added to the tank before disposal takes place After the second quarter of 2005,
I
Blaes Environmental will subcontract Integrated Wastestream Management, Inc (IWM) of Milpitas,
' California to pump the tank and transport the purged groundwater to an approved treatment facility for
recycling
1
