,&L4FJEnv,ronmental Management Inc <br /> 002-70950-02 1J-Haul#709-50 <br /> Semi-Annual Report <br /> 12/14/00 <br /> 2.2 2 uanti f the Release <br /> The quantity of petroleum hydrocarbons released from the former gasoline UST area is unknown <br />' 2 2 Prod ti n W ter W 11 ear h <br /> The search for nearby production wells involved a scan of regulatory agency records using an environmental <br /> assessment report database scan provided by Vista Upon receipt of the Vista report, the location of the <br /> nearby production wells will be shown on a map The Vista report is currently pending and will be <br /> presented under a separate cover <br /> 2.3 ADDITIONAL SITE CHARACTERIZATI N ACTIMITIES <br />' Site characterization activities conducted at <br /> the site in January and February 2000 involved the <br /> installation of eight (8) new monitoring wells to better monitor groundwater conditions, the installation <br /> six (b) soil bonngs for soil sample collection, and groundwater monitoring and sample analysis <br /> Conclusions of additional site characterization activities included the following <br /> • The source area of the hydrocarbon plume is apparentlylocated near borehole locations DP-I <br /> and DP-2 Analytical results indicate that total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasolineTPH <br /> ( g) <br /> concentrations in soil from DP-2 were greater than 1,000 milligrams per kilogram (mg/Kg) at <br /> depths of 10 to 74 feet below ground surface (bgs) Soil collected at approximately 29 feet <br /> bgs contained 21,000 mg/Kg TPHg Field observations of this sample indicated that apparent <br /> free-phase hydrocarbons saturated the sample The apparent source appears to be the former <br /> western dispenser island <br /> S The eight wells installed in January 2000 were screened to cover two depth intervals the <br /> upper casing (casing "A") at approximately 25 to 50 feet bgs and the middle casing <br /> (casing "B") at approximately 50 to 75 feet bgs The screen intervals of the new and <br /> previously existing monitor wells are presented with other well construction details on <br /> Table I Please note that the casings of the new nested wells are designated as follows <br /> casing "A" is the upper well and casing "B" is the middle well The lower wells, casing "C", <br /> were the wells originally installed at the site <br /> 4 <br />
