(®rt'. COMMUNITY <br /> Process Hazardous Waste Management <br /> stk- EHS- POL-015 . c <br /> A weekly inspection is required by both federal and state regulations . This is performed by the Chemical <br /> Hygiene Officer or the Environmental Health and Safety Manager . As a best management practice, the <br /> inspections are logged on the Waste Accumulation Area Weekly Inspection Binder . These records must <br /> be kept for three years . <br /> 4 HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT <br /> 4 . 1 ACCUMULATION TIME AND VOLUME LIMITS <br /> Accumulation Start Time : The first day the generator begins accumulating any hazardous waste . <br /> Note : <br /> • If you are transferring waste from an SAA to a WAA, the WAA receival date is the date the waste '.... <br /> is transferred to the WAA, not the date the waste was first added to the SAA collection container . <br /> • If the generator generates no more than 100 kg ( 220 lbs ) hazardous waste ( or 1 kg of acutely <br /> hazardous waste or extremely hazardous waste ) onsite during a calendar month, the <br /> accumulation start time does not start until the generator has accumulated 100 kg hazardous <br /> waste ( or 1 kg of acutely or extremely hazardous waste ) . <br /> Time limit : <br /> • 90 days; or <br /> • 180 days ( 270 days if the distance to the treatment or disposal facility is more than 200 miles ) <br /> only if the total amount accumulated never exceeds 6000 kg ( 13 , 200 lbs ) . <br /> • Any quantity of acutely hazardous or extremely hazardous waste must be removed in 90 days . <br /> Note on INITIAL ACCUMULATION : the initial accumulation date of the collection container must be the <br /> oldest of the initial accumulcation dates from the various containers emptied into the collection container <br /> in the WAA . This may require dates to be changed if wastes from the older containers are added to <br /> collection containers . <br /> 4 . 2 STORAGE <br /> • The container must be closed at all times except when waste is being added . <br /> • The accumulation start date must be indicated on the container . <br /> 4 . 3 INSPECTIONS <br /> A weekly inspection is required by both federal and state regulations . This is performed by the <br /> Environmental Health and Safety Manager or a trained dedicated back up . As a best management practice, <br /> 13 <br />
