1
07 January 2000
AGE-NC Project No 95-0130
' mile and directed towards the northeast which is consistent with the general gradient and flow
direction determined at the adjacent site (Wells Fargo Bank - 49 South Wilson Way) The ground
water surface elevation at the site is approximately 11 feet to 21 feet above the slotted screen
' intervals in wells MW-1 through MW-5 and approximately 4 feet to 9 feet above the slotted screen
intervals in wells VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A
' 3 2 LABORATORY RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
' TPH-g was detected in water samples collected from wells MW-5, VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A
at concentrations as high as 210,000 micrograms per liter (µg/1)
' Various BTEX compounds were detected in water samples collected from MW-2, MW-3, MW-5,
VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A at concentrations as high as 45,000 µg/1 (VW-1C) The greatest
' benzene concentrations were detected in the water sample collected from VW-1C at 38,000 µg/l
MTBE was detected by EPA Method 8020 in water samples collected from wells MW-2, MW-3,
VW-2A, and VW-3A at concentrations as high as 11,000 µg/l (VW-3A)
MTBE was detected utilizing EPA Method 8260 Modified in water samples collected from wells
MW-2, MW-3, VW-2A and VW-3A at concentrations ranging between 1 1 µg/l and 8,400 µg/1
TBA was detected in water samples collected from wells MW-3 and MW-5 at concentrations as high
as 80 µg11 No other fuel oxygenated compounds were detected during the laboratory analysis
Analytical results of the ground water samples are summarized in Table 2 The laboratory reports
(Castle Analytical Laboratory Reference No 2535 and McCampbell Analytical Inc I D 23533
through 23540) and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix B
I
' 4 0. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected during the October 1999 monitoring event, AGE concludes
• Ground water was inferred to be flowing toward the northeast in the area containing wells
MW-1 through MW-5 at a calculated gradient of 0 006 ft/ft (Figure 3)
• Due to the low gradient at the site, slight variations in ground water measurements or
changes of recharge/discharge of the local ground water could greatly modify ground water
flow direction
• Wells MW-1 through MW-5, VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A are "drowned", and yield
samples representative of deeper ground water conditions
Adianccd GcoEmironmental,Inc
