07 January 2000
AGE-NC Project No 95-0130
IPage 4 of 5
' • Between the June 1999 and the October 1999 sampling events, a substantial increase in
dissolved MTBE was quantified at VW-3A
' • TBA was detected in a water samples collected from well MW-3 and MW-5 at
concentrations as high as 80 ,ug/l Due to historical TBA detection at MW-2 and due to
abnormally high laboratory reporting limits at VW-1 C, VW-2A and VW-3A, TBA may also
be present in the areas of MW-2, VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3C at concentrations below the
laboratory determined detection limits
• The elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons detected in samples collected from
' wells VW-1 C, VW-2A and VW-3A indicate that these wells are within or near the dissolved
petroleum hydrocarbon "core area" of the plume
• The vertical/horizontal extent of impacted soil and ground water has not been delineated
towards the northeast
• The dissolved TPH-g, BTEX and MTBE plume is at least 37 feet thick in the area of wells
MWA, MW-2, MW-3 (screened 60 to 80 feet bsg), MW-5 (screened 50 to 70 feet bsg), VW-
1C (screened 48 to 63 feet bsg), VW-2A and VW-3A (screened 43 to 63 feet bsg), with
increasing depth, the dissolved petroleum plume grades from higher concentrations to lower
concentrations
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
IBased upon the results of this investigation, AGE recommends
• Continued quarterly ground water monitoring The next quarterly monitoring and sampling
event Is tentatively scheduled for 21 January 2000
• Continued utilization of wells VW-1, VW-2 and VW-3 for characterization of ground water
conditions in the "core area"
• Proceed with drilling activities upon UST Cleanup pre-approval as outlined in the Wo?k Plan
' Addendum -June 1998, dated 23 June 1998 and approved by the PHS-EHD by letter dated
18 August 1999 Drilling activities are tentatively scheduled for 21 January 2000
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing In this or similar localities The findings were based upon
Adtianced Geo Eniron mental,Inc
