27 September 1999
AGE-NC Project No 95-0130
modify ground water flow direction
• Between the March 1999 and June 1999 ground water monitoring events, ground water
elevation increased an average 1 12 feet at the site, a trend of increasing ground water
elevations has been observed at the site at least since January 1995
• The ground water surface elevation at the site is approximately 13 feet to 23 feet above the
slotted screen intervals in wells MW-1 through MW-5 and approximately 5 feet to I I feet
above the slotted screen intervals in wells VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A Therefore these
wells are "drowned", and yield samples representative of deeper ground water
• TPH-g was detected in water samples collected from wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-5,
VW-IC, VW-2A and VW-3A at concentrations ranging between 310 micrograms per liter
(,ug/1) and 270,000 4g11, respectively
• Various BTEX compounds were detected in water samples collected from MW-1, MW-2,
MW-3,MW-5,VW-IC,VW-2A and VW-3A at concentrations ranging between 5 5 4g/1 and
50,000 Azg/l
• MTBE was detected In water samples collected from well MW-3, VW-2A, and VW-3A at
iconcentrations as high as I,600 Icg/l
• TBA was detected In a water sample collected from well MW-5 and VW-2A at
concentrations as high as 250 ug/1 No other fuel oxygenated compounds were detected
during the laboratory analysis
• From March 1999 to June 1999, a substantial increase in dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon
concentrations were detected in the sample collected from well V W-1 C (Table 2)
Conversely, a substantial decrease in dissolved hydrocarbons were observed from wells
MW-2, MW-3 and VW-3A The deceased concentrations reported from wells MW-2, MW-3
and VW-3A and the increased concentration reported from VW-I A may be related to a slight
northward shift of the dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon plume
• The elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons detected In samples collected from
wells VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A Indicate that these wells are within or near the dissolved
petroleum hydrocarbon "core area" of the plume
• The vertical/horizontal extent of impacted soil and ground water has not been delineated
towards the northeast
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the results of this investigation, AGE recommends
P g ,
Advanced CieOEMironmental,Inc
