i <br /> I21 May 2003 <br /> AGE-NC Protect No 95-0130 <br /> Page 15 of 16 <br /> 4 5 1 Ground Water Extraction <br /> A Grundfos Rediflow down-well pump, type 5E5, equipped with Franklin 112 hp, 230V, 3-wire <br /> motors will be installed in wells EW-1 and EW-2 One-inch diameter Schedule 80 PVC pipe will <br /> be installed from the submersible pump and discharged through the well-head samtary seal,a safety <br /> chain will be installed at the sanitary seal to prevent dropping the pump to the well bottom To <br /> I minimize sediment intake through the pump, the bottom of the pump/motor assembly will be <br /> suspended approximately one foot from the bottom of the well Electrical wiring will be connected <br /> from the top of the pump through Class I electrical connectors/unction boxes and electrical conduit <br /> to the pump electric controller Ground water will be continuously pumped from the bottom of the <br /> six-inch diameter extraction wells EW-1 and EW-2 at low-flow rates between five and ten GPM and <br /> routed through underground PVC piping to a 1,000-gallon holding tank <br /> I <br /> 4 5 2 Extraction Well And Process Pump Controllers <br /> I Both the submersible Grundfosum s at EW-1 and EW-2 and the ground water pump-and-treat <br /> p p <br /> process pump will be controlled by PumpTec controllers The ground water extraction pump will <br /> Ioperate independently on a separate controller, with an amperage sensing/time switch which will <br /> detect any decrease in amperage when water level drops below the impeller intake from the Grundfos <br />' pump The pump also will be outfitted with automated electronic shut-off controls to control water <br /> entering the treatment unit AGE anticipates total ground water extraction flow between 10 and 20 <br /> GPM <br /> The process pump, located behind the holding tank (Figure 8), will be controlled by electrode <br /> switches placed at various levels in the holding tank An emergency shut-off switch will be located <br /> I immediately below the top of the holding tank An intermediate pump-on switch will be placed <br /> approximately 8-inches below the emergency shut-off switch and activate the process pump <br /> Intermediate pump-off switches will be utilized near the bottom of the holding tank to turn the <br /> process pump off <br /> Electricity is readily available to the site A dedicated electrical meter will be installed by <br /> representatives of P G & E that will connect directly to the pump and treat system <br /> 4 5 3 Ground Water Extraction Start-Up Period <br /> During the pump and treat start-up period(first two weeks of operation), ground water influent and <br /> effluent of the treatment system, depth to ground water measurements and operational parameters <br /> (ground water flow meters, fluid level sensors,total flow indicators)will be monitored daily during <br /> Advanced GeoEnvwronmental,Inc <br />
