I <br /> • 25 February 2004 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0130 <br />' Page 2 of 7 <br /> Installation procedures for the site were outlined in Interim Remediation Work Plan - May 2003, <br /> Idated 21 May 2003, prepared by AGE and approved by the San Joaquin County Environmental <br /> Health Department by letter dated 10 June 2003 <br /> 21 SOIL SAMPLING <br /> Discrete soil samples were collected at 5-foot Intervals beginning at 15 feet bsg from MW-8 and <br /> EW-1 and beginning at 5 feet bsg from EW-2 Soil samples were collected utilizing a California <br />' modified split-spoon sampler loaded with 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves The sampler was driven <br /> by dropping a 140-pound weight from a height of 30 inches The number of blows required to drive <br /> each 6-inch length of the sampler (blow counts) was recorded on boring logs by an AGE staff <br />' geologist <br /> Soil samples were preserved by covering both ends of the second brass sleeve with Teflon sheets, <br />' capping and sealing with tape Each preserved sample sleeve was labeled with soil boring location, <br /> depth, time, date and sampler's initials <br /> • Each preserved sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form, placed in a chilled container and <br />' <br /> transported to a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for analysis <br />' in accordance with <br /> • EPA Method 5 030/8015M for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline(TPH-g), <br />' • EPA Method 8020 for volatile aromatic compounds benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and <br /> xylene (BTEX), and <br /> r • EPA Method 5030/8260 for 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), ethylene dibromide (EDB), <br /> tertiary butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tert butyl ether (ETBE), tert amyl <br /> methyl ether (TAME), and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) <br />' The results of the soil analyses are contained in Table 1 <br />' 2 2 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br /> The hollow stem augers were steam cleaned prior to bore hole advancement Sampling tools and <br />' brass sleeves used for sample collection were thoroughly washed with a solution of Alconox, and <br /> were thoroughly rinsed with clean tap water prior to each sampling run At the conclusion of field <br /> activities,all rinseate generated from decontaminating the equipment was placed in properly labeled <br /> Department of Transportation(DOT)-approved model 171-1 55-gallon drums and was stored on-site <br /> in an area lacking public access <br /> rAdvanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br /> r <br />
