I was reviewing the file with my supervisor and had to reopen violation 102 (failure to determine)from the report. The
first item in question is for the white 5 gallon plastic bucket containing the used lubricant. The used oil disposal record
was not attached with the RTC.
The second item is for the universal waste dumpster. Can you please explain what that is a little more? Universal waste
is not normal trash. It becomes hazardous waste if not managed as a universal waste.
The other thing I wanted to mention was regarding the forklift waste. Any waste that is hazardous, must be handled as
hazardous waste according to Title 22 regulations. Unless there are specific exceptions that allow the company to
transport a hazardous waste, (ie: completely drained (crushed/punctured filters), used oil under 55 gallons) a variance
from DTSC or a permit to haul the hazardous waste needs to be received.
Thank You,
John Alaniz
REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
1868 E Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Phone: (209)468-3147
Fax: (209)468-3433
2
