On November 18, 2002 M J Kloberdanz & Associates, using a Geoprobe (direct push
technology) provided by V&W Drilling, advanced a soil boring to a depth of 60 feet to
collect soil and water samples north of the former UST excavation (B-2) Soil samples
were collected every five feet to a depth of 55 feet for geological interpretation A 60-
foot soil sample was not collected due to refusal at a depth of 59 feet However, a
laboratory groundwater sample was collected between depths of 55 and 59 along with a
sample from medium grained unconsolidated course sand at 45 feet in depth The
Geoprobe was relocated adjacent to boring B-2 and a second attempt to collect at soil
Isample at 60-feet attempted The Geoprobe was unable to penetrate below 38 feet in
depth in the second boring Several soil samples, collected from boring B-2, were
submitted for laboratory analysis due to the close proximity of this boring to the original
release All soil and groundwater laboratory samples were reported below detection
limits for the compounds analyzed with the exception of 0 5 pg/L of Toluene in the 60-
foot water sample
Boring B-3 was located east of the original UST excavation on November 19, 2002
Uncertain that the Geoprobe could penetrate the soil below 38 feet in depth an attempt to
drill, without soil sampling, directly to 60 feet in depth was made The Geoprobe was
unable to penetrate below 38 feet in depth A water sample was collected at 38 feet and
the hole abandoned The water sample contained 1 1 µg/L Toluene Soil samples for
laboratory or geological interpretation were not collected
E
