Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan <br /> 1 INTRODUCTION AND SITE INFORMATION <br /> This Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan ( Plan ) has been established for The Home Depot U . S . A . , <br /> Inc , ' s ( Home Depot ' s ) Distribution Center #5641 ( DC #5641 ; Site) , located at 1400 East Pescadero <br /> Avenue in Tracy , CA ( see Figure 1 ) . <br /> The Site is a rapid deployment distribution center . It consists of a single 657 , 600 square foot <br /> warehouse surrounded by paved areas for automotive and truck trailer parking . The Site is bordered <br /> to the North by YRC Freight ; to the South and East by August Farms ; and to the West by Mc Lane <br /> Food Services . <br /> 2 PURPOSE AND SCOPE <br /> The Site is a distribution center for rapid deployment of products to store locations . A variety of <br /> consumer products are received at the Site and are temporarily stored within the building prior to <br /> being distributed to local and regional stores . The Site also has a maintenance shop to support minor <br /> building maintenance activities . <br /> The Site is considered a large quantity generator ( LQG ) of hazardous waste and maintains US EPA <br /> ID No . CAR000200022 . A variety of consumer products , including paints , cleaners , solvents and <br /> petroleum products are stored at the distribution center . Wastes are typically generated when <br /> products are damaged or spilled . <br /> 2 . 1 Contingency Plan Requirements <br /> This Plan is designed to minimize hazards to human health and the environment from fires , <br /> explosions or any unplanned sudden or non -sudden release of hazardous waste or hazardous waste <br /> constituents to air, soil or surface water. The provisions of this plan must be carried out immediately <br /> whenever there is a fire , explosion or release of hazardous waste or hazardous waste constituents <br /> which could threaten human health and the environment . <br /> As required in 40 CFR 262 . 34 ( b) , "A generator of 1 , 000 kilogram or greater of hazardous waste in a <br /> calendar month or greater than 1 kg of acute hazardous waste . . . " must fulfill the requirements in 40 <br /> CFR 265 Subpart D which states , " each owner or operator must have a contingency plan for his <br /> facility . The contingency plan must be designed to minimize hazards to human health or the <br /> environment from fires , explosions , or any unplanned sudden or non -sudden release of hazardous <br /> waste or hazardous waste constituents to air, soil , or surface water . " In California Code of <br /> Regulations ( CCR) Title 22 , Division 4 . 5 , Chapter 15 (22 CCR 66265 Article 4 ) , the California <br /> Environmental Protection Agency ( CaIEPA) incorporates 40 CFR 265 and its appendices . <br /> The Plan has been prepared in accordance with applicable federal and CaIEPA regulations and <br /> guidance for hazardous waste contingency plans (40 CFR 265 and 22 CCR 66265) . Understanding <br /> and implementing this Plan will ensure that personnel are familiar with the Site ' s response procedures <br /> for fires , explosions or any unplanned sudden or non -sudden release of hazardous waste or <br /> i � <br /> arcadis . com 3 <br /> � I <br />
