I0 <br />5 4 Encountered Lithologies <br />Lithologies encountered while drilling remediation wells VEAS-1 through VEAS-3, monitor wells MW - <br />13 through MW -17, and groundwater extraction well EX -1 predominately consisted of silty sand, silty <br />clay and poorly graded sand Appendix C contains Method of Soil Classification, VEAS-1 through <br />VEAS-3, and EX -1 boring logs, and the Non -Hazardous Waste Manifest for the transportation of the soil <br />generated from the December 2002 drilling event <br />5 5 Analytical Testing <br />Analyses of soil and groundwater samples was performed by ZymaX Envirotechnology (ZymaX), a State - <br />certified laboratory Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures, sample preservation, <br />apparatus required, and analyses performed will be per 1) A A C R9-14-601 through -617, 2) U S EPA <br />Document EPA -600, "Methods for Chemical Analysis for Water and Wastes" dated July 1982, and 3) <br />U S EPA document SW -846, 3rd Edition, "Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste Physical Chemical <br />Methods", dated November 1986 <br />Select soil and groundwater samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons characterized as <br />gasoLne (rPHg), ben7,me, tcl�lene, ethylberzcrie, tc*al- xylenes (BTFX), mcth; l-te•- r;I c+er <br />(MTBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tert-butyl alcohol (TBA), di -isopropyl ether (DIPE), and ethyl- <br />tert-butyl ether (ETBE) in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Test Method 8260B <br />All groundwater samples were additionally analyzed for 1,2-dichlorethane (1,2 -DCA), and ethylene <br />dibromide (EDB) (1,2-Dibromoethane)in accordance with EPA Test Method 8260B <br />5.6 Soil Sample Analytical Results <br />During the additional site characterization assessment activities, which took place on December 9 through <br />16, 2002, sixty (60) soil samples were submitted to ZymaX for analytical testing Twenty-five of the soil <br />samples submitted for laboratory analysis were reported to contain one or more petroleum hydrocarbon <br />constituent concentrations above their respective laboratory equipment practical quantitation Iimits <br />(PQLs) A summary of soil sample analytical results from this phase of site assessment is provided in <br />Table 5, Additional Site Assessment, Groundwater Monitor and Remediation Wells, Soil Sample <br />Analytical Results — Petroleum Hydrocarbons and Fuel Oxygenates The distribution of selected constituent <br />concentrations are shown on Figure 8, Geologic Cross -Sections A -A' and B -B' <br />TPHg was detected above the laboratory PQLs which ranged from 0 5 to 10 milligrams per kilogram <br />(mglkg, equivalent to parts per million) in seventeen (17) soil samples at concentrations ranging from 16 <br />mg/kg in soil sample MW -14130' to 2,800 mglkg in soil sample EX -1/40' <br />Benzene was detected above the laboratory PQLs which ranged from 0 005 to 1 0 mg/kg in seventeen (17) <br />soil samples at concentrations ranging from 0 014 mg/kg in soil sample YEAS -3/60' to 3 5 mg/kg in soil <br />sample EX -1/40' Toluene was detected above the laboratory PQLs, which ranged from 0 005 to 0 1 <br />EZ 100966 CAP <br />S IEZ Serve\EZ 1009661Reports1100966CAP <br />7 <br />ATC Associates Inc <br />ATC Project No 43 25827 0026 <br />4 <br />
