The tank and containments are shown in the attached Figure 1 following the text portion of
this document. These materials are considered hazardous due to the material being waste
oil and antifreeze which are regulated materials. These materials are considered hazardous
and therefore must be provided secondary containment in compliance with CCR Title 22
§66265.192 or Chapter 15 Article 10.
3.0 110% Containment Calculation
The tank is determined to meet 110% containment of the largest volume contained within
the containment. Please refer to Attachment C and Section 4.0 for Table 1 Containment
Calculations.
4.0 rCR Title 2"66265,192 (a)(1 and 2) - Design and Installation of New Tank
Systems or Components
(a) Owners or operators of new tank systems or components shall ensure that the
foundation, structural support, seams, connections, and pressure controls(if applicable) are
adequately designed and that the tank system has sufficient structural strength, compatibility
with the waste(s) to be transferred, stored or treated, and corrosion protection so that it will
not collapse, rupture, or fail. The owner or operator shall obtain a written assessment
1 reviewed and certified by an independent, qualified, professional engineer, registered in
California in accordance with section 66270.11(d) attesting that the system has sufficient
structural integrity, is acceptable for the transferring, storing and treating of hazardous waste,
and that the tanks and containment system are suitably designed to achieve the
requirements of this article. This assessment shall be obtained prior to placing the tank
system in service, and shall be kept on file at the facility. This assessment shall also include,
at a minimum, the following information:
(1) Design standard(s) according to which the tank(s) and ancillary equipment are or will be
constructed,
The waste storage tank is constructed of a coated steel material and is located in the
basement of an industrial building, within an enclosure open to the atmosphere, with
approximately several inches of tertiary containment used for servicing vehicles. The tank,
piping and pumps are designed to be compatible with the materials contained in the tank.
The waste oil is transferred to the tank through a 3/4 inch reinforced rubber hose and 3/
& 1 inch metal piping via a gravity system mounted on and wall framing of the adjacent
support awaiting proper disposal following all local, state and federal requirements. The
tank used is designed to be compatible with the materials contained in the tank. Structurally,
the system has sufficient strength and the foundations are adequately designed. The tank
and ancillary systems are properly anchored.
Hazardous Waste Tank Assessment Report Martin Consulting
Oil Stop,301 W.
