I
n Y
03 December 2004
. AGE-NC Project No 95-0104
IPage 2 of 4
I water sample was transferred Into three 40-m1 volatile organic analysis(VOA)vials containing 0 5
ml 18%hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative and into one 1-liter amber bottle without added
preservative The samples were properly labeled, placed in a chilled container and transported under
I chain of custody to McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI) a State of California Department of Health
Services (DHS)-certified analytical laboratory The samples were analyzed for
I • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and diesel (TPH-d) In
accordance with EPA Methods 503013550/8015-Modified,
I • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary-butyl ether
(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020, and
• Fuel additives MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE),
I tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME),tertiary butanol (TBA), 1,2-dichloro ethane (1,2-DCA)
and ethylene dibromide (EDB) In accordance with EPA Method 8260B
I
3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected on
27 September 2004, the contaminant impact to ground water was quantified from the laboratory
Ianalytical data obtained from the sampling event
3 1 RELATIVE GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
The elevation of ground water in each monitored well was calculated by subtracting the depth to
Iground water from the surveyed well casing elevations (Table 1)
The depth to ground water ranged from 76 62 feet to 77 44 feet below the tops of the well casings
Ground water elevations at the site ranged from 22 13 feet above mean sea level (MSL) in well
MW-5 to 22 28 feet above MSL in well MW-6
The ground water flow direction on 27 September 2004 was inferred to be towards the north under
an average gradient of 0 007 foot/foot Figure 3 illustrates the contoured ground water elevations
3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
I1,2-DCA was detected in the water samples collected from MW-4, MW-Sand MW-6 at
concentrations of 0 83 µg/1, 13 µg/1 and 1 7 gg/l,respectively TPH-g,BTEX and other fuel additives
Advanced GeoEmironmental,Inc
I
