I , <br /> 21 August 2000 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0104 <br /> Page 2 of 6 <br /> A Purged ground water was containerized in 55-gallon drums and was stored on.-site in an area <br /> lacking general public access <br /> 2 2 GROUND WATER SAMPLING <br /> Following well purging, ground water levels in monitoring wells MW-1,MW-5,MW-6 and VW-1 <br /> achieved a minimum of 80 percent recharge prior to sample collection Ground water samples were <br /> collected from the purged wells utilizing new,disposable polyethylene bailers and three 40-m1 EPA- <br /> approved VOA vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative Care was <br /> taken to ensure that visible air bubbles were not present in the vials after filling and capping Ground <br /> water sample containers were labeled with the well designation, date, time, and sampler's initials <br /> 2 3 LABORATORY ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> Each ground water sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form,placed in a chilled container and <br /> transported to a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for analysis <br />'. for <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) by EPA Method 8015M, <br />' • Volatile aromatic compounds (benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and xylene BTEX) with <br /> methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) by EPA Method 8020, and <br />' • Tertiary butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether(RIPE), ethyl tert butyl ether(ETBE), tert amyl <br /> methyl ether (TAME) and MTBE by EPA Method 8260M <br /> 2 4 DRILLING AND SAMPLING <br />' In July 2000, two soil probe borings were advanced at the site Soil probe borings P1 and P2 were <br /> advanced utilizing a van-mounted Geoprobe 5400 equipped with 1 125-inch diameter probe rods <br /> with an attached 2 15-inch diameter soil sampler,using"direct push"technology Soil probe boring <br /> P 1 was advanced vertically to a depth of 55 feet bsg and boring P2 was advanced to 9 feet bsg, at <br />' which point refusal was encountered <br /> Discrete soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals, beginning at 15 feet bsg, to total depth of <br /> I boring P 1, boring P2 was not sampled due to refusal encountered at 9 feet bsg Soil samples were <br /> collected using a Geoprobe soil sampling assembly loaded with four pre-cleaned 1 125-inch by <br /> 6-inch brass sleeves Soil samples were preserved by covering both ends of the brass sleeve with <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
