Weber Avenue, Stockton, California
EHD Site Code: 1285, USTCF Claim#15630, Global ID#T0607700470
Dear Ms. McCartney:
On behalf of the San Joaquin County Facilities Management Department, Ramage
Environmental, Inc. is pleased to submit to the San Joaquin County EHD this work plan to
destroy the three groundwater monitoring wells at the above-referenced site. On September 10, --
2008, EHD requested this work plan. The locations of the three monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2
and MW-3) are shown on the attached site plan.
Prior to destroying the wells, Ramage Environmental will obtain a permit from EHD. Since all
three of the monitoring wells are on the subject site, neither private property access agreements
nor encroachment permits are required. At least two working days prior to destroying the wells,
Ramage Environmental will contact EHD and Underground Service Alert (USA) so that
regulatory and underground utility clearance inspections can be scheduled. Given the county
court operations at the site, the field work will be conducted on a Saturday. The work is
currently scheduled for Saturday,November 8, 2008.
The three monitoring wells will be destroyed by a C-57 licensed drilling contractor(i.e., driller),
under the supervision of Ramage Environmental and inspection of EHD. All three monitoring
wells are 2-inch diameter and are installed in 8-inch diameter boreholes. The wells all include 20
feet of polyvinyl chloride (pvc) well screen and blank pvc casing. Monitoring wells MW-1 and
MW-2 are 25 feet deep, and MW-3 is 35 feet deep. The monitoring well logs are attached.
The driller will destroy the wells by over-drilling the boreholes and casings with a truck-mounted
drilling rig and 10-inch diameter hollow-stem augers. Once all of the well materials have been
removed, the driller will seal the resulting boreholes by filling them with neat cement grout,
placed to the bottom of the boreholes with a tremie pipe. The driller will cap the cement-filled
boreholes with six-inch layers of concrete or asphalt to match the surrounding pavements.
