Purged ground
water was containerized in.properly labeled"DOT=approved model 17H 55-gallon drums and was
stored on-site. Field sheets and data are included in Appendix B.
2.6. MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES.
Ground water sampling of wells MW 1°through MW7 was conducted on 31 January 2002. For the
sampling event, a.Solinst water-level meter was used to.measure the,Aepth to ground water in the -
seven wells relative to the tops of the well casings. The ground water elevations and.gradient we're
determined from these data(Table 1).
After recordingwater level measurements;disposable plastic bailers were used to purge monitoring
wells MW through MW7 of-standing water. Approximately•7 gallons of water (a minimum of 3
casing water-volumes per well)were removed from MW I through MW7.Ground water temperature,
pH and conductivity were measured at regular intervals during purging in MW I through MW7 using '
an Oakton water analyzer. Purged ground water was, containerized in properly labeled
.. DOT-approved model 17H 55-gallon drum_s-and* stored on-site. Field .sheets and data are .
included in Appendix C. -
2.7. COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Water samples:were collected from each purged'well using new disposable.plastic bailers:Each
water sample was transferred into three 40-m1 VOA vials containing 0.5 nil 18%hydrochloric acid
as a sample preservative and into .one, I-liter amber`bottle without sample preservative. After
collection, the samples were properly.labeled, placed in a chilled-container and transported under
f chain-of=custody'to"MAL'The samples were analyzed for:
TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• BTEX in accordance with.EPA Method.8020;_and : -
• MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, TBA, EDB and 1,2-DCA in accordance with EPA Method
8260 Modified.
2.8.
