LOGGING
Soil was extruded from a second-brass-sleeve and was screened for the presence of organic vapor
using an organic vapor meter.(OVM).equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID: Thermo
Environlinental.580A, 10.0 eV calibrated to isobutylene),and the-OVM readings were recorded on
the .boring log. The soil was then visually described in accordance with_ the Unified Soil
r Classification System (see Appendi(A).
-2.3.. WELL COMPLETIONS
-Pilot borings MW5, MW6 and MW7'were'completed as ground water monitoring wells using
two-inch diameter PVC casing with 0.020-inch-slotted screen installed from approximately-10 feet
to 30 feet bsg and with blank casing extended to the surface.. The filter pack(No. 3 Lonestar sand).
r-
was installed from approximately 8 feet to 30. feet bsg. A.-nominal 2-foot bentonite, chip plug was
then installed-above the filter pack and hydrated. The wells were then grouted to near the surface-
- grade with portland cement.Water-tight,traffic-rated well boxes were then installed over the wells..
-- As-built-well diagrams are:depicted on the boring logs in Appendix A.
2.4. 'LABORATORY ANALYSES OF SOIL SAMPLES
Selected soil samples were analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons-quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) in
accordance with EPA Method 5030/8015 Modified and.3550/8015 Modified;
•.
'Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTEX) in accordance with EPA Method
-8020; and
• Fuel additives --di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),: ethyl fertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), methyl
. tertiary-but 1,ether (MTBE), tetiar -am 1 methyl ether (TAME), tertiary butanol .(TBA ,
1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) and ethylene dibromide (EDB) in accordance with EPA
Method 8260 Modified.
- 2.5. MONITORING WELL DEVELOPMENT
. On 29 January 2002; monitoring wells MW5,MW6 and MW7 were developed utilizing a stainless
_! •` steel hand bailer and a two-stage submersible pump.Ground water was purged from each monitoring
well until ground water was visually sediment free;approximately 15 gallons of water were removed
- Advanced.GeoEnvironmental,-Inc:
