Page 15
500.3.5 Sediment Control
Sediment controls are structural measures that are intended to complement and enhance the soil
stabilization (erosion control) measures. Sediment controls are designed to intercept and filter out
soil particles that have been detached and transported by the force of water.
This project will incorporate minimum temporary sediment control measures throughout the site.
There is no discharge off the site, so controls will only be used during the time surrounding storm
events, when they are deemed necessary to enhance construction operations.
500.3.6 Tracking Control
Figure 3 illustrates the entry/exit point into the site. To enter the site from MacArthur Blvd, one
must travel over a mile on a gravel road to get to the site's entrance. The site's remote location
does not require additional tracking controls.
At the MacArthur Blvd entrance, a strip of asphalt 25 feet in length will be installed to get trucks off
the street and through the gate. It is anticipated that some track out may occur on MacArthur. A
sweeper will be used, as required, to control track out at this location.
500.3.7 Wind Erosion Control
The following BMP's have been selected to control dust from the construction site:
■ Water truck(s) used to suppress dust on all interior roads and excavation areas
500.3.8 Non-Storm Water Control
There are three types of non-storm water discharges covered in this section:
1. Illicit discharges
2. Non-prohibited (planned and unplanned)
3. NPDES permitted (planned)
An inventory of construction activities and potential non-storm water discharges is provided in
Section 5.3.1. The BMP Consideration Checklist in Attachment C and the following list indicates
BMP's that have been selected to control non-storm water pollution on the construction site.
Various types of equipment will be required at the construction site. This includes excavators,
bulldozers, backhoes, transport trucks and trailers, water trucks, generators, air compressors and
other support equipment commonly used.
Prepared: April 12, 2003
