_I <br /> LFR Levine-Fricke <br /> The Site is a closed basin with no paths for surface water outfall and there are no <br /> significant surface water sources (e.g., streams, ponds) located at the Site. The Banta <br /> Carbona Irrigation District Canal bounds the gravel pit to the east and Corral Hollow <br /> l Creek, an intermittent stream, is located 500 feet to the south. Other surface water in <br /> the vicinity of the Site consists of Delta Mendota Canal (located approximately 0.5 <br /> mile to the southwest) and California Aqueduct (located 1 mile to the southwest). <br /> ) <br /> 3.0 WELL INSTALLATION AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING <br /> 3.1 Scope of Work <br /> The scope of work conducted at the Site during the period from March through May <br /> 2003 included the following tasks: <br /> • drilled and installed one groundwater monitoring well (MW-5) <br /> • drilled and installed one production well (PW-1) <br /> • developed and sampled the newly installed wells <br /> '.a measured depth-to-groundwater and collected groundwater samples from the five <br /> site monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-5) <br /> • conducted laboratory analysis of collected groundwater samples <br /> • evaluated the monitoring and sampling results <br /> 3.2 Monitoring Well Installation <br /> One groundwater monitoring well (MW-5) was installed on March 23, 2003 to provide <br /> groundwater-quality data downgradient from the Site. Soil boring logs and well <br /> construction information for the monitoring well is included in Appendix A. <br /> The borehole for the well was advanced to a depth of approximately 121 feet bgs using <br /> a hollow-stem auger rig. After the borehole was advanced to the desired total depth, <br /> 1 the well was constructed using 2-inch-diameter, schedule 40 PVC casing with 0.010- <br /> inch factory-cut slots. The screened interval of the well extends from 101 to 121 feet <br /> bgs with the remainder of the well constructed with 2-inch-diameter PVC blank casing. <br /> After installation, the well was developed by surging and bailing, and then sampled on <br /> April 14, 2003, with a clean, unused, disposable bailer. A summary of the laboratory <br /> analytical results is provided in Table 2. Well development and sampling field data <br /> sheets are included in Appendix B. The location and top-of-casing elevation of each <br /> newly installed was surveyed by a licensed surveying subcontractor.
