LFR Levine-Fricke <br /> 3.3 Production Well Installation <br /> One production well (PW-1) was installed on April 15, 2003 to provide water for dust <br /> control during remediation activities. Soil boring logs and well construction <br /> information for the monitoring well is included in Appendix A. <br /> The borehole for the well was advanced to a depth of approximately 216 feet bgs using <br /> a mud rotary drilling rig. After the borehole was advanced to the desired total depth, <br /> the well was constructed using 6-inch-diameter, schedule 80 PVC casing with 0.02- <br /> inch factory-cut slots. The screened interval of the well extends from 150 to 215 feet <br /> bgs with the remainder of the well constructed with 6-inch-diameter PVC blank casing. <br /> r installation, the well was developed by surging and bailing, and then sampled on <br /> April 14 2003, with a clean, unused, disposable bailer. A summary of the laboratory <br /> analytical results is provided in Table 2. Well development and sampling field data <br /> sheets are included in Appendix B. <br /> 3.4 Groundwater Monitoring <br /> Quarterly groundwater samples were collected from wells MW-1 through MW-5 on <br /> May 20, 2003. Prior to purging and sampling activities, depth-to-groundwater was <br /> measured using an electronic water-level meter. Groundwater elevations are <br /> summarized in Table 1., Groundwater elevation contours are shown on Figure 3. <br /> Each well was purged prior to sampling by removing at least 3 well casing volumes of <br /> water. The specific conductance, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and temperature of <br /> the removed water was measured and observed during well purging. The water-quality <br /> parameters and other pertinent information were recorded on field water sampling data <br /> sheets (Appendix B). <br /> Groundwater samples were collected after water parameters stabilized using a clean, <br /> unused, disposable bailer at each well. The water was poured into laboratory-supplied <br /> containers. Each container was capped, labeled with the well identification, time and <br /> date of sample collection, and analysis requested, and placed into an ice-chilled cooler <br /> for transport to the laboratory. <br /> Standard chain-of-custody protocol was followed during the sample handling process. <br /> Water generated during sampling activities was transferred into properly labeled 55- <br /> gallon drums. The water in the drums will be sampled and analyzed for appropriate <br /> disposal. <br /> 3.5 Chemical Analyses <br /> Collected groundwater samples were submitted to Severn Trent Laboratory, Inc.
