LFR Levine-Fricke
Monitoring Parameters
As presented in Figures 9 through 11, concentrations of monitoring parameters in
groundwater samples were generally consistent across the Site. Concentrations of total
alkalinity ranged from 183 mg/l in the sample collected from monitoring well MW-2
during the third quarter to 463 mg/l in MW-3 during the fourth quarter 2003.
Analytical results for specific conductance for site monitoring wells ranged from 962
pmhos/cm during the second quarter (MW-2) to 1,740 panhos/cm during the third
quarter (MW-3). Concentrations of nitrate detected in groundwater samples ranged
from 0.90 mg/l in monitoring well MW-4 (fourth quarter) to 4.6 mg/1 in monitoring
well MW-2 (fourth quarter). Concentrations of sulfate in the groundwater samples
ranged from 115 mg/l in the sample collected from MW-2 during the second quarter to
279 mg/1 in the sample collected from MW-3 during the fourth quarter. Concentrations
of TOC detected in groundwater samples ranged from < I.0 mg/l in monitoring wells
MW-1, MW-2, MW-4, and MW-5 during the second and third quarter, and MW-1
during the fourth quarter, to 2.3 mg/l in monitoring well MW-3 during the fourth
quarter.
6.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the groundwater quality data collected during the preceding three quarters,
the tire fire does not appear to have affected groundwater quality at the Site. The
CIWMB recommends that the quarterly groundwater sampling and reporting activities
at the Tracy Tire Fire Site be reduced to one annual event, to occur during the first
quarter of each calendar year, until no further action is required by the RWQCB. The
first quarter 2004 groundwater sampling activities will be conducted during early
February and the monitoring and sampling report will be submitted to the RWQCB by
April 30, 2004. The next groundwater sampling event is proposed for the first quarter
of 2005. Results of the first quarter 2005 groundwater sampling event will be
submitted to the RWQCB by April 30, 2005.
7.0 UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
First quarter 2004 groundwater monitoring and sampling activities will be conducted
by LFR during early February 2004. Groundwater monitoring and sampling results for
the first quarter 2004 sampling event will be prepared by LFR and submitted to the
RWQCB by April 30, 2004.
8.0 LIMITATIONS
The opinions and recommendations presented in this report are based upon the scope of
services, information obtained through the performance of the services, and the
schedule as agreed upon by LFR and the party for whom this report was originally
Page 8 TTFS QMR Q4-43.FINAL:3EE
