LFR Levine-Fricke
I WOO
SVOCs were not detected above laboratory reporting limits in samples collected from
wells MW-1 through MW-5 during the second through fourth quarters of 2003.
Metals
Metals were not detected above MCLs in samples collected from wells MW-1 through
MW-5 during the second through fourth quarters of 2003. The metal concentrations
reported for monitoring well samples are shown on Figures 6 through 8.
Based on a comparison of groundwater quality data between the downgradient wells
and the upgradient well (MW-3) located at the Site during 2003, the tire fire does not
appear to have affected groundwater quality beneath the Site. Zinc was detected above
j the reporting limit in groundwater samples collected from two of the five wells during
I the second quarter 2003 at concentrations ranging from 0.0053 mg/l (MW-5) to 0.0055
mg/l (MW-4). Zinc was not reported above the reporting limit in groundwater samples
collected during the third quarter 2003. Zinc was detected above the reporting limit in
samples collected from two of the five wells during the fourth quarter 2003 at
concentrations ranging from 0.0054 mg/l (MW-2) to 0.0057 mg/1 (MW-4). The
reported concentrations of zinc in the groundwater samples throughout the Site are
generally consistent with the concentrations detected in the groundwater samples
collected from the background well (MW-3). Additionally, lead, another potential
constituent of concern, was not detected in groundwater samples collected from the
five wells during the second through fourth quarters of 2003.
Field Parameters
Values of pH in groundwater samples collected from site monitoring wells during 2003
were generally consistent. The values were neutral and ranged from 7.2 pH units
(MW-3, second quarter) to 8.14 pH units (MW-2, third quarter).
Concentrations of TDS in the groundwater samples collected from site wells ranged
from 623 mg/l in the samples collected from well MW-2 during the second and third
quarter to 1,180 mg/l in the sample collected from MW-3 during the fourth quarter.
The secondary MCL for TDS is 500 mg/l. The samples collected from the upgradient
well (MW-3) contain higher concentrations of TDS compared to the downgradient site
wells, suggesting that the TDS concentrations detected are likely representative of
J background conditions.
Turbidity concentrations measured in the field ranged from 89 NTU in the sample
collected from MW-4 during the third quarter to 5,300 NTU in the samples collected
from wells MW-5 during the second quarter.
1
i
i
t
'ITFS QMR Q4-03.F1NAL:JEE Page 7
