A laboratory will be subcontracted by E & E for soil analysis by
BOA EPA Methods 6010B, 8040, 604, 8100, 525, 8260B and 524.2. E
basic ordering agreement & E will use it's current basic ordering agreement (BOA)
contract vehicle to select a qualified laboratory.
A specific laboratory will be contracted after the sample plan has
been finalized. The contracted laboratory is required to meet the
BOA contract requirements which are detailed in Appendix A.
Analytical data generated by the laboratory will be validated by
E & E according to OSWER Directive 9360.4-01, April 1990
"Quality Assurance/Quality Control Guidance for Removal
Activities. "
To provide analytical quality control for the analytical program of
this QASP, the following measures will be utilized:
• All sample analyses will be conducted by a laboratory
certified by the State of California for the analytical methods
to be conducted.
• An additional volume of sample will be collected to be
utilized for matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate (MS/MSD)
analysis. Due to the expected high concentrations of
analytes in the samples, a high concentration MS/MSD will
be requested of the laboratory.
• A Contract Laboratory Program-type (Level IV) data
package will be required from the laboratory for all resultant
data.
4.3 Global Positioning System (GPS)
GPS The GPS will be used to assign precise latitude and longitude
global positioning system positions to sample locations. There are currently no GPS standard
operating procedures, but the guidelines from the Trimble GPS
instrument manuals will be followed. A rangefinder may also be
used in conjunction with the GPS. There are currently no
rangefinder standard operating procedures, but the guidelines from
that instrument manual will be followed.
4.4 Geological Procedure
The START will use the USCS to describe soils collected from
boreholes. Soils will be logged directly through the plastic liners
of the geoprobe.
09:CAMyFi1es\PR0JECT\Tracy_Tire\QASP\QASP_0339.wpd-11/30/98 4-2
