GROUND ZERO ANALYSIS, INC.
Vapor Test Well VW-3
During the vapor extraction test using test well VW-3 as the
extraction well, induced vacuums were observed in wells VW-1,
VW-2 , and VW-6 almost instantaneously No significant induced
vacuums were observed in wells VW-4 , VW-5, and MW-13 during
' the duration of the test Based on these results an applied
vacuum of 29 inches of water and a flowrate of 50 cfm appears
to be achievable using test well VW-3 as an extraction well
' Based on these results and results from longer tests performed
on other wells, a radius of influence of approximately 30 to
35 feet is also indicated
Vapor Test Well VW-4
As for the other wells, the testing conducted on VW-4 was
designed to evaluate radius of influence, achievable flow rate
and vapor concentrations In addition, the test on VW-4 was
conducted in such a manner as to provide data bearing on the
relationship between applied vacuum and flow rate A vacuum
of 14 inches of water was applied to the well for a period of
30 minutes, vacuum was then increased to 25 inches for another
30 minutes, vacuum was increased again to 45 to 46 inches of
water for the balance of the test
During the long term vapor extraction test using test well VW-
4 as the extraction well, an induced vacuum was observed in
well VW-1 within 4 minutes No induced vacuums were observed
in wells VW-2 , VW-3 , VW-5 (constructed in the same boring) ,
VW-6, and MW-13 within 4 minutes Induced vacuums were
observed in wells VW-2 , VW-6, and MW-13 , and the induced
vacuum observed in well VW-1 increased within 7 minutes when
the applied vacuum was increased from 14 to 25 inches of water
and the flow rate was increased from 19 8 to 30 . 8 cfm No
induced vacuums were observed in wells VW-3 and VW-5 when the
applied vacuum and flow rate was stepped up 30 minutes into
the test The induced vacuums observed in wells VW-1, VW--2,
and MW-13 increased within 3 minutes when the applied vacuum
was increased from 25 to 46 inches of water and the flow rate
was increased from 30 8 to 44 cfm The induced vacuum
observed in well VW-6 increased within 9 minutes when the
applied vacuum was increased from 25 to 46 inches of water and
the flow rate was increased No induced vacuums were observed
' in wells VW-3 and VW--5 when the applied vacuum and flow rate
was stepped up 60 minutes into the test Based on these
results an applied vacuum o= 46 inches of water and a flowrate
of 40 cfm appears to be achievable using test well VW-4 as an
extraction well A radius of influence of approximately 25 to
30 feet in indicated
5
