• Well Installation and Site Investigation Report
ARCO Facility No.5469
Stockton,California
Page 3
MW-10). Delta submitted a Well Installation Report (dated August 15, 2001)
documenting the well installation activities. The newly installed wells were incorporated
into the quarterly groundwater monitoring program.
SCOPE OF WORK
The primary objectives of the fieldwork were to:
o Install wells necessary to initiate ozone injection.
o Evaluate the vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impact to soil and
groundwater.
o Further characterize subsurface stratigraphic relations.
The scope of work implemented during the investigation consisted of
-
0 Drilling and installing five (5) ozone injection wells (IW-1 through IW-5) to
depths ranging between approximately 53.5 and 63 feet bgs.
o Collecting soil samples from borings IW-1 through IW-5 for lithologic evaluation.
o Advancing one CPT boring (CPT-1) to a depth of approximately 120 feet bgs.
0 Collecting soil and grab groundwater samples from separate borings located
immediately adjacent to boring CPT-1.
FIELD ACTIVITIES
Prior to implementation of field activities, permits to advance the soil borings and
construct the monitoring wells were obtained from San Joaquin County PHS/EHD.
Underground Service Alert and San Joaquin County PHS/EHD were notified 48 hours
prior to beginning work activities. Standard field practices and procedures are presented
in Appendix A. All work was conducted under the direct supervision of a state of
California registered geologist. Copies of the drilling permits are included in
Appendix B.
Soil 1Boirings
A Stratus geologist observed Woodward Drilling Company of Rio Vista, California
(C57# 710079) advance five soil borings (IW-1 through IW-5) between March 25 and 26,
2002. The soil borings were advanced using a truck mounted drill rig equipped with
8-inch diameter hollow stem augers. The borings were continuously sampled beginning
at depths ranging between 40 and 45 feet bgs to the total depth of the borehole. Given the
proximity of previous borings completed in the area, the well borings were not logged
between surface grade and the start of continuous sampling. Soils were classified onsite
PABp-Arca for URS154691Reports15469report2003.doc
