As a result of
reviewing the report submitted by CRA on behalf of Robert Reeder, PHS/EHD provides the following
comments and directives.
Analytical data confirms the presence of petroleum fuel hydrocarbon constituents(FHC) in soil samples at
the above referenced site. PHS'EHD concurs with the recommendations of CRA regarding the backfill and
compaction of the existing excavation to prevent potential precipitation driven contaminant migration.
This scope of work should be completed at the responsible parties earliest convenience given the onset of
the rainy season.
PHS/EHD directs the responsible party at the above referenced site to submit a work plan which
when implemented will fully define the vertical and lateral extent of FHC distribution. This work
plan is to be received at PHS/EHD offices no later than January 15,1998.
We request that all required work be performed in a prompt and timely manner under the direct supervision
(witnessed)of PHS/EHD staff.
PHS/EHD recommends that all site assessment and remediation related activities in which the
responsible party(s)engages in and anticipates reimbursement from the Underground Storage Tank
Cleanup Fund(USTCF) be reviewed and pre-approved prior to commencing work.
Should you have questions regarding this correspondence please contact Ron Rowe at(209)468-0342.
Donna Heran,REHS,Director
Environmental Health Division
14MA4 r 4IZt1k
Ronald Rowe,Sr.REHS MargaretLagorio, Supe isor
Site Mitigation Unit Site Mitigation Unit
2421chr.doc
A Division of San Joaquin Countv Health Care Services
