(Ground Zero)
APPROVED (Valid only if conditions below are met )
E DISAPPROVED
❑ ADDENDUM Submit by :
ADEQUATE AND NECESSARY ELEMENTS OF THE WORKPLAN (H&S
25299.37,subd.(c)(3).):
1. Three monitoring wells (MW)to investigate the lateral extent of the
groundwater contamination off site. The wells are proposed to be
screened from 45 feet to 75 feet bsg. Samples will be collected for
laboratory analyses including Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon as gasoline
(TPH-g) and BTEX, and 1,2 dicholorethane (1,2-DCA) and ethylene
dibromide (EDB) using EPA Method 8260.
COMMENTS AND CONDITIONS:
1. The vertical extent of the groundwater contamination at this site has not
been defined. Analytical results of the deepest grab groundwater sample
taken at 98 feet bsg were 1,200 micrograms per liter (µg/1) TPH-g, 75 µg/l
benzene, 140 µg/I toluene, 25 pg/I ethyl benzene, and 120 µg/I xylenes.-
Sixty-four
ylenes:Sixty-fourµg/1 1,2-DCA was also detected in another grab groundwater
sample collected at 80 feet bsg. A minimum of one additional monitoring
well is required to confirm if the hydrocarbon contamination is indeed
present at this depth. A stiff fine grained layer between approximately 80
and 100 feet bsg has been identified in the cone penetrometer (CPT) log
of the Vertical Investigation Report (the report) dated July 2, 2001
prepared by Ground Zero. San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (EHD) recommends a monitoring well with no more than 5
feet of screen section in the area and at the depth of the deepest known
contamination to confirm and/or monitor the contaminants
