(Aegis), is pleased to submit this letter workplan for the
installation of one groundwater monitoring well at the subject site. The investigation will
include the drilling, logging and sampling of one 30-foot-deep soil boring, to be completed
as a monitoring well, adjacent to the western fuel dispensing island. This investigation i
has been requested by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(SJCEHD), to assess the potential petroleum hydro:carbon impact to groundwater.
BACKGROUND : . I
The 707 Yosemite Avenue site is an active mini- art/service station and carwash in i
Manteca.' Three steel underground storage tank (UST) are located adjacent to the
carwash building and two fuel dispensing islands west of the UST (Figure 1). In January
1987, Canonie Environmental, of Stockton Califon 0a, trenched and collected two soil
samples from beneath the product piping adjacent t the western fuel dispensing island,
after a Petrotite test. Soil- analysis indicated total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH)
concentrations ranged from below detection limits to 1,500 parts-per-million (ppm).
Subsequent to the soil.sampling, approximately 3 tc 5 cubic yards of petroleum bearing
soil were excavated adjacent to the western dispens r island, under the supervision of the
SJCEHD. The excavation was backfilled with clean fill material. The UST are
approximately 30 years old, however Armor-Seal of incinati, Ohio, fibergiassed the UST
93-042B.WPN `
. i
I
