1 <br />' continuously the remaining days of the month <br /> Carbon ChaniZei2ut <br />' On October 12 2001, <br /> each of the new GAC canisters was filled with 2,000 <br />' pounds of virgin carbon <br /> H dwcarhon RYeakt� <br />' Based on analytical results of the water sample collected from GAC #2 on <br /> October 5, 2001, ASE became aware that hydrocarbons had broken <br /> through the second carbon vessel The GAC #3 sample collected on <br />' October 5, 2001 contained no detectable concentrations of the <br /> compounds tested After the carbon changeout on October 12, all of t h e <br /> GAC #1 samples collected the remainder of the month showed n o <br />' breakthrough At no time during the month of October 2001 were any <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons discharged to the Manteca Sanitary Sewer Line <br /> Flow Rate, <br /> During the month of October 2001, the system treated 116,760 gallons of <br /> groundwater While operating, the system extracted, on average, <br /> approximately 4 gallons of contaminated groundwater per minute The <br /> total gallons treated during the month was less than previous months d u e <br /> to the down-time during GAC vessel replacement <br /> EFFLUENI AND INFLUENT SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSEEffluent Water Samj2leI <br /> Water samples were collected and analyzed on a weekly basis by ASE to <br /> determine the performance of the GAC vessels, per the City of Manteca <br /> Sewer Discharge Permit The samples were collected from the effluent <br /> side of the various GAC vessels When GAC #1 and GAC #2 were sampled, <br /> ASE also collected a sample from the next vessel in series and placed it o n <br /> I HOLD at the laboratory, as a back-up in case the sample being analyzed <br /> showed breakthrough All of these samples were analyzed by Kiff <br /> Analytical of Davis, California (FLAP #2236) for total petroleum <br /> I hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, a n d <br /> xylenes (collectively known as BTEX), and the five fuel oxygenates by EPA <br /> Method 8260B At no time during this month's operation, did the effluent <br /> entering the sewer line contain any detectable concentrations of any of <br /> the compounds tested The effluent water sample analytical reports and <br /> chain of custody records are attached in Appendix B <br /> I <br /> Frank's One Stop Remediation System Monthly Report — October 2001 <br /> - 2- <br />
