. 2n e ^Y Semite Avenue
ASE searched this vacant property and found no evidence of any well The
property owner, Mr Jack Fulton, believed that a well was located on the
property since a house used to be located on the property, however, he
did not know of the well's location
Based on the results of the initial wells sampled, the number of wells
sampled was expanded to cover a wider area In total, 40 wells were
sampled and are detailed in this report
In all wells that had detectable concentrations of any compound, a
confirmation sample was collected and analyzed After some of the initial
wells showed detectable methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE)
concentrations, all subsequent samples collected during a well's initial
sampling were analyzed on a "24-hour" or "as fast as possible" basis
4 . 0 SAMPLING METHODOLOGY
ASE collected the groundwater samples using the following procedures
Prior to sampling, any holding tank on the well was drained until the well
. pump turned on to recharge the tank with water directly from the
well/aquifer Water samples were collected as close to the pump as
possible (at any sampling port prior to a holding tank if available)
Groundwater samples were contained in 40-m1 glass volatile organic
analysis (VOA) vials, pre-preserved with hydrochloric acid, and sealed
without headspace All samples were labeled with the site location,
sample designation, date and time the samples were collected, and the
initials of the person collecting the samples The samples were then
placed into an ice chest with wet ice for transport to the analytical
laboratory under chain of custody
The exceptions to this methodology were the domestic well at 238 Airport
Way and the irrigation well located at 17886 South Airport Way These
wells were sampled with bailers because both of these wells contained
gasoline powered submersible pumps which are not suitable for the
collection of undisturbed groundwater samples These groundwater
samples were decanted from a bailer into 40-m1 VOA vials, pre-preserved
with hydrochloric acid, and sealed without headspace The samples were
then labeled and transported to the analytical laboratory as described
above
•
Frank's One Stop Area Well Sampling Report -- October 2000
-2-
