1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> 1.1 Site Location and Description <br /> The subject property is located at 2072 W Yosemite Avenue in Manteca, California at the <br /> intersection of Yosenute Avenue and Airport Way (Figure 1) The site is on the southeast corner of <br /> the intersection in a commercial and residential area The site currently has several uses including a <br /> ung station and convenience store, automobile repair,U-Haul truck rental and propane sales There <br /> were six underground tanks(four gasoline and two diesel tanks)at the site Each is made of steel and <br /> has a 10,000 gallon capacity The age of the service station and tanks is unknown The sate is <br /> currently owned and operated by Mr Frank Guinta <br /> I1.2 Background <br /> Tank Removals, Soil Borings and Sampling by GeoAudit, Inc. <br /> A Prelirrunary Investigation and Evaluation Report was prepared by Geological Audit Services <br /> (GeoAudit), Inc of Stockton, California in February 1995 The work was performed for the Bank <br /> of Stockton The GeoAudit report stated that in September 1994 three 1,000 gallon motor oil tanks <br /> and one waste oil tank had been removed from the site(Figure 2) They reported that there had been <br /> no significant contaminants found at the time of the tank removals (Geological Audit Services,Inc., <br /> Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report,Franks Food Mart,2072 W.Yosemite Ave., <br /> Manteca, California, February 1995). <br /> In addition, GeoAudit drilled 10 mechanical bonngs and three hand au ered bonngs on the site The <br /> g g y <br /> collected and analyzed 21 soil samples and nine groundwater samples GeoAudit reported 18,000 <br /> ppm TPH-d, 1400 ppm TPH-g, 1 2 ppm ethylbenzene and 8 3 ppm xylenes at a depth of three feet <br /> in boring IW, hand augered boring adjacent to the diesel dispenser, east of the UST location They <br /> also reported 590 ppm TPH-g, 9 1 ppm TPH-d, 2 5 ppm benzene, 4 4 ppm toluene, 2 4 ppm <br /> ethyibenzene and 1 2 ppm xylenes at a level of 15 feet bgs in boring GB8, approximately 50 feet <br /> northwest of the dispenser islands, near Yosemite Avenue See Figure 3 for boring locations and <br /> 1 Tables 1 and 2 for further results <br /> I` Soil Borings and Sampling by Remedy, Inc. <br /> IIn April 1997, Remedy completed ten (10) soil bonngs at the site The Remedy bonngs were <br /> advanced around the fuel tanks and dispenser islands The borings were completed using Geo-Probe <br /> equipment The final depth of bonngs was approximately 16 feet Boring B-4, west of the dispenser <br /> island closest to the building, was terminated at a depth of 7 feet due to an underground concrete <br /> obstruction, believed to be associated with the previous structures on the site No samples were <br /> collected from this boring (Remedy, Inc., Initial Site Characterization Report, 2072 W. <br /> Yosemite Avenue, Manteca, California, April 23, 1997). <br /> Remedy, Inc Interim Investigation and Remediation Report September 16, 1998 <br /> Frank's One Stop, 2072 W Yosemite Avenue Manteca CA 0151IR RPT <br /> 1 ' <br />
