Groundwater was found at a depth of approximately 12 5 feet below ground surface(bgs) Several
soil samples were found to contain petroleum compounds The highest levels were found in borings
B-2 and B-3, east of the dispenser islands The soil sample from boring B-3, at a depth of 12 feet,
was reported to contain 880 ppm (mg/kg)TPH-g, with 9 2 ppm MTBE, 0 89 ppm benzene, 15 ppm
toluene, 10 ppm ethylbenzene and 63 ppm xylenes
The majority of the groundwater samples from both investigations were found to contain petroleum
' compounds The lughest levels were found in samples from borings B-2, B-3 and B-5 with B-3
showing the highest levels These were all near the dispenser islands The sample from boring B-3
contained the 130,000 ppb (Aig/L) TPH-g with 21,000 ppb MTBE, 3800 ppb benzene, 18,000 ppb
toluene, 3,100 ppb ethylbenzene and 17,000 ppb xylenes
The highest levels reported in the GeoAudit investigation were from boring GB2, south of the UST
' location The groundwater sample was reported to contain 13,000 ppb TPH-g, 83 ppb benzene, 840
ppb toluene, 230 ppb ethylbenzene and 1900 ppb xylenes They also reported 3,400 ppb TPH-g, 35
ppb benzene, 48 ppb toluene, 16 ppb ethylbenzene and 96 ppb xylenes in boring GB8 The boring
locations are shown on Figure 3 and the data is presented in Tables 3 and 4
Video Survey of Drinking Water Well
A video survey was completed to gather additional information regarding construction and design
of the drinking water well located at Franks One Stop, 2072 W Yosemite Avenue, Manteca,
California On November 25, 1997, Welenco removed the pump and piping from inside the well
A video survey was then completed using the top of casing as the datum The results of the video
survey are summarized in the Welenco, report (Remedy Inc., Quarterly Sampling Report for
Drinking Water Well, Franks One Stop, 2072 W. Yosemite Avenue, Manteca, California,
August 28, 1998)
The inside diameter (ID) of the well at the surface was shown to be 8 inches diameter Screened
intervals were reported from 84 to 102 feet, 104 to 121 feet, and 123 feet to the bottom of the survey
(140 feet) The static water level was reported at 16 feet depth
Tank Removals
Remedy Construction, Inc removed two 10,000 gallon diesel tanks (east end of the UST tank pit
area) on June 5, 1998 The work was completed in conjunction with upgrade of UST's at the site
The soil around the fill end of the tanks showed staiiung from green to black, and a diesel odor was
detected
The remaining four 10,000 gallon gasoline tanks (west end of the UST tank pit area) were removed
by Remedy Construction, Inc on June 10, 1998 The soil around the fill end of the tanks had a
gasoline odor
ISoil samples were taken at each end of the tanks Grab water samples were also collected at each
Remedy Inc Interim Investigation and Remediation Report September 16 1998
Frank's One Stop, 2072 W Yosemite Avenue Manteca, CA 0151IR RPT
2
